As the federal government startes to deliver 7.5% VAT on February 01, 2020, the telecom subscribers have began to pay for more calls and services. The new value added tax was raised by 5%. EOLBREAK EOLBREAK The President of the Licensed Telecommunication Operators ‘ Association in Nigeria, ALTON, Gbenga Adebayo and Gbolahan Awonuga, as stated by the Head of Operations, respectively the Telecommunications Operators Dachin Company.
The statement was issued to alert consumers of the rise in VAT throughout all the networks on February 1.
According to ALTON, the introduction of the VAT rise would impact sales of telecommunications products and services. ALTON said the VAT increase would reflect Nigeria’s telephone, email, and internet charges.
He said: “We wish to inform customers that our members will start applying the new rate on all pledged telecommunications products and service by February 01, 2020, after the approval of President Muhammadu buhari’s finance bill which examined the value added tax from 5% to 7.5 per cent.”
